CI Games has announced a comprehensive overhaul of the combat mechanics in Lords of the Fallen 2, aiming to significantly expand the depth and diversity of encounters across melee, ranged, and magical disciplines. The sequel is set to feature nearly 30 distinct weapon types, each with unique movement sets, effectively doubling the variety found in the original 2023 title. Every weapon class will include specific maneuvers, combo chains, and repositioning strikes. Notable additions to the arsenal confirmed by the developer include scythes, claws, fists, and katanas.

A key innovation allows players to transition organically between one-handed and two-handed weapon handling mid-combo without breaking the chain of attacks. This fluidity, combined with boss weapons that possess exclusive movesets, is designed to create a more strategic and deep melee experience. Furthermore, the system now supports equipping two skills that provide instant access to spells and projectile attacks during combos, eliminating the need to change stances.

For players specializing in magic or ranged combat, the game introduces dedicated postures that offer mobility comparable to melee builds. Mages can now equip four spells on a primary catalyst and switch instantly to a secondary catalyst holding four different spells, all of which can be cast immediately or after charging. The title will feature seven distinct schools of magic alongside improved mechanics for replenishing mana points. Additionally, ranged weapons have been updated to include infinite base ammunition.

Although initially targeted for release in 2026, Lords of the Fallen 2 has been delayed until 2027. Developed by Hexworks and published by CI Games, this challenging action RPG will launch on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2, inviting players to explore a dangerous dark fantasy world.
