Mass Effect fans are organizing a shared play session for N7 Day, asking players on every platform to launch one of the games on Saturday, Nov. 7, between 2 and 5 p.m. ET. The initiative is led by the fan group We Are Mass Effect, which hopes to demonstrate how many people still enjoy the series.

The organizers are encouraging players to take part on consoles and PC, including through the EA app. Because Steam’s player charts do not include those platforms, participants are also invited to post screenshots and clips using #SaveMassEffect during the three-hour event. The corresponding times are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. PT, 7 to 10 p.m. GMT and 8 to 11 p.m. CET.

N7 Day has been BioWare’s annual Mass Effect celebration since 2012. Its name comes from the N7 insignia on Commander Shepard’s armor: N stands for November and 7 for the date. The event has traditionally included fan creations and studio activities, but this year’s gathering is being organized by the community.

The call comes amid a renewed fan campaign to keep the series going. A Change.org petition asking EA to continue Mass Effect has collected almost 300,000 verified signatures, while fans also arranged for a Save Mass Effect message to appear on a Times Square billboard on Oct. 26.

Steam provides one measure of the series’ player activity. Mass Effect Legendary Edition reached a peak of 59,817 concurrent players in May 2021, shortly after its release. Since fall 2021, its highest monthly peak has been around 9,300, while monthly peaks over the past year have ranged from 4,200 to 6,500.
