The PlayStation Plus Premium subscription service has received an unexpected addition with the arrival of the native PlayStation 5 version of Metro Redux. This update was made available directly through Sony's platform without any prior official announcement or marketing campaign.
Metro Redux bundles together Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. While the PlayStation 4 edition had already been part of the catalog, the game's page has now been updated to include the PS5 version, which features several technical improvements. The new iteration offers a resolution of 4K at 60fps, alongside more detailed textures and enhanced lighting, shadows, and particle effects.
For owners of the PlayStation 5 Pro, the game supports PSSR technology, allowing for upscaled 4K output at 120fps. Additional upgrades in this version include improved audio quality, refined animations, support for low energy mode, and real-time hardware tessellation.
With this addition, the entire Metro franchise is now playable natively on the PS5 via Sony's subscription services. This follows the inclusion of Metro Exodus in the PS Plus Extra tier a few months ago.
