Nagoshi Studio has officially closed after ending operations on October 31, 2026. The confirmation follows months of rumours and indications about the future of the company and its announced project, Gang of Dragon.

The studio was founded by the creator of the Yakuza series after he left SEGA and his former team to begin a new venture. Gang of Dragon was announced at The Game Awards 2025 as a game with similarities to Yakuza. The project was also expected to feature well-known actors, including Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee, providing faces and voices for its characters.

According to the available information, NetEase decided to end its financial support for the project. Nagoshi Studio was unable to find other investors interested in Gang of Dragon, leading to the company’s closure.

As a result, the game is not expected to be released, and the prospects of development resuming are currently described as almost nonexistent. The project’s future could depend on its creator joining another team and working on a new game, potentially drawing inspiration from the cancelled title.
