The Razer BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed PS5 is a mid-range wireless gaming headset priced at €119.99. It offers detailed sound and several connection options for multiplayer and everyday gaming, but practical comfort and fit issues hold it back.
The headset weighs 270 grams, a design choice intended to help reduce fatigue during long sessions. However, its ear cushions can press against the lower part of the face and cause discomfort. The headband’s adjustment range is also limited, making it difficult to achieve a secure fit on smaller heads, even at its tightest setting. A control wheel on the right earcup adjusts game audio and the level of the wearer’s own voice heard through the headset.
Audio is a strong point. Razer’s second-generation 50 mm TriForce drivers deliver clear, detailed and powerful sound. In first-person shooters, the review found that positional audio made it easier to identify the direction of opponents. Surround 7.1 audio is available through Razer Synapse software.
For voice chat, the headset has a detachable 9.9 mm Razer HyperClear cardioid microphone. It captures speech clearly while filtering unwanted background noise.
The BlackShark V3 X HyperSpeed PS5 supports wireless 2.4 GHz through a USB dongle, Bluetooth and a direct USB cable connection. SmartSwitch Dual Wireless lets users switch between 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth with a button press, but the headset cannot play audio from both wireless connections at the same time.
Battery life is rated at up to 70 hours over 2.4 GHz wireless. A full charge takes about 4.5 hours, while 15 minutes of charging is said to provide six hours of use. Gaming can continue over USB when the battery is low.
Overall, the headset pairs strong positional audio, long battery life and flexible connections with shortcomings in comfort and adjustability. Its fit may not suit every user, and the two wireless sources cannot be used simultaneously.
