Ubisoft has made an offer to acquire Arkane Lyon from Microsoft, according to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier. At least two other companies have also submitted bids for the studio, which developed Dishonored and Deathloop.
Arkane Lyon’s future is uncertain amid Xbox’s restructuring. The studio was initially given until November 13 to find a buyer before facing closure, but Microsoft has since extended that deadline by a month.
Ubisoft’s interest is not new: reports indicated that the French company had been watching Arkane before Xbox announced cuts over the summer. Microsoft is also considering a sale to Arkane’s management team, which could allow the studio to become independent.
If Arkane secures a new owner or continues as an independent studio, development of Marvel’s Blade, announced in 2023, is likely to continue.
