Xbox has begun testing two new features for Cloud Gaming. Players can use a phone as a controller on compatible smart TVs, while a separate trial lets the new Xbox Nano Controller connect directly to the cloud.
The phone-control feature is intended for people who want to play on a TV without a physical controller nearby. The on-screen buttons appear in the phone’s browser, and the feature supports Android and iOS devices. To try it, players must enable Preview Features in the TV’s settings. It is available in countries where Xbox Cloud Gaming is supported.
The Nano Controller’s cloud-connect feature is currently limited to the United States. Instead of pairing with the TV over Bluetooth, the controller uses Wi-Fi to connect directly to the cloud server, which is intended to reduce input delay and make gameplay more responsive. Setup requires the Xbox beta app on Android or the Xbox Accessories app on PC.
