Bloodborne continues to demonstrate significant commercial viability more than ten years after its initial launch. According to data shared by Rhys Elliott, an analyst at Alinea Analytics, the FromSoftware action-RPG has moved over 251,000 copies during the current year alone. These recent figures contribute to a total sales volume that has surpassed 10.4 million units worldwide.
The cumulative sales of the title have generated revenue estimated at around $317 million. Despite the game's enduring popularity and frequent requests from fans for a sequel or a remake, Bloodborne remains exclusive to the PlayStation 4 ecosystem. While the title is playable on the PS5 through backward compatibility, the experience does not fully leverage the newer console's hardware capabilities, offering primarily more stable frame pacing rather than enhanced graphical features.
Discussions regarding a potential remake have surfaced recently. Before Sony shut down Bluepoint Games earlier this year, the studio had proposed developing a remake of Bloodborne. However, FromSoftware declined the offer. Shuhei Yoshida, a former Sony executive, noted that director Hidetaka Miyazaki holds a special affection for the work he created. Miyazaki prefers to oversee any potential remake personally but has cited a lack of time as a complicating factor, expressing reluctance to allow other studios to modify the game.
