DC Studios has tapped Francis Galluppi to write a movie about John Constantine, according to a report by Deadline. The project is still in the early stages of development, and it is not yet known whether Galluppi will also direct. No casting details have been announced.
Constantine is a working-class British detective who investigates the occult and uses magic. The comic book character was created by writer Alan Moore and artists Steve Bissette and John Totleben.
The new project arrives as fans have awaited a sequel to the 2005 film Constantine, which starred Keanu Reeves. In late 2025, Reeves said a new draft of the sequel’s script had been completed and would be presented to DC Studios. There has been no further update, and it is unclear whether Galluppi’s script is connected to Reeves’ film or will introduce a new version of the character.
Galluppi is also writing and directing Evil Dead Wrath, which is scheduled to open in theaters on April 7, 2028. The seventh film in the Evil Dead series will be a prequel to 1981’s The Evil Dead, with its story set in 1972. Galluppi brought the story to franchise creator Sam Raimi and his team in 2024, following critical acclaim for his feature debut, The Last Stop in Yuma County.
