God of War Laufey will no longer launch in February as originally planned. Santa Monica Studio has announced that the game is now scheduled to release on May 20, 2027.
In a statement, the studio said it was grateful for the enthusiasm surrounding Faye’s journey through Everywhen since the game was revealed in June. It added that the additional time will be used to put the finishing touches on the game and bring out its full potential. The team also thanked players for their patience and said it would share more details soon.
God of War Laufey is a third-person action adventure starring Faye, Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother. The story unfolds in an afterlife where gods and creatures from different mythologies meet, and runs alongside the events of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok. Unlike those games, Laufey is set to feature a faster, more agile combat system.
