Grand Theft Auto 6 has reached an estimated 7.71 million pre-orders, according to sales tracker data from Sensor Tower. The firm estimates those orders have generated $751 million in revenue, ahead of the game’s global launch, which the report says is two weeks away.
Sensor Tower estimates that 5.74 million copies have been pre-ordered for PlayStation 5, compared with 1.97 million for Xbox Series X/S. That puts the platform split at roughly 74% for PS5 and 26% for Xbox.
The tracker shows pre-orders picking up after an extended gameplay reveal on Netflix. The report also points to Sony’s exclusive marketing campaign and the lower price of a base PS5 compared with a base Xbox Series X as possible factors in the difference between platforms.
For comparison, Cyberpunk 2077 reportedly had about 8 million pre-orders ahead of its 2020 release. GTA 6’s estimated total is also close to the 8.5 million sales attributed to Resident Evil Requiem, which the report identifies as the second best-selling game in the U.S. so far in 2026.
Piper Sandler, a financial services firm, has forecast 45 million GTA 6 sales during its launch window. The report notes that even a lower total could exceed the $800 million GTA 5 generated in its first 24 hours, though the final results remain to be seen.
