The latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 hotfix changes how UAV Towers appear in DMZ, making them less predictable and less common across the map. Previously, every Point of Interest (POI) was guaranteed to have a tower. Their spawn locations are now randomised, and their overall spawn rate has been reduced by 40%. The update also prevents multiple towers from appearing in the same area, except in Deadtown, where several are needed for DMZ Order progression.
The change targets a tactic used by aggressive players, who could activate towers soon after spawning to track enemy movement. Some towers also cover extraction areas, making it possible to monitor players trying to leave. A character trait that prevents towers from expiring has added to the concern by allowing their scans to remain active for an entire match.
Infinity Ward has not directly commented on that trait, but confirmed it is changing how the Sedative Inhaler works with towers upgraded by it. The inhaler, which hides players from UAVs, is expected to work against those towers in a change planned for sometime in Season 1.
In the meantime, the hotfix doubles the Sedative Inhaler’s duration from 60 to 120 seconds, giving players more time to stay undetected.
