Sony Santa Monica has delayed God of War Laufey, pushing the PlayStation 5 exclusive from its planned February release to May 20, 2027. The studio announced the new date in a statement on X, saying the additional time would go toward finishing the game and bringing it to its fullest potential.
The studio also thanked fans for their enthusiasm and patience, adding that it plans to share more updates soon. Laufey was revealed during June’s State of Play, after months of rumors about the project.
The spin-off stars Deborah Ann Woll as Faye, Kratos’ wife, and takes place alongside the events of God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. Its story follows Faye’s own journey through the Everywhen, where she attempts to help Kratos and their son Atreus from beyond the grave.
Jack Quaid will voice Phranque, a talking cube, while Perlina Lau plays Rue. Christopher Judge also returns as Kratos. The game is being developed by Sony Santa Monica, which has separately confirmed that another mainline God of War game starring Kratos is in development.
