Phantom Blade Zero has sold more than four million copies during its first 72 hours on sale, according to developer S-Game. The studio announced the milestone through the game’s official X account, but did not provide a breakdown by platform.
The reported total includes sales on Steam and PlayStation 5, as well as the China-exclusive Tencent WeGame PC launcher. Before launch, Alinea Analytics analyst Rhys Elliott had estimated that the game had already sold more than one million copies through pre-orders.
The third-person action game also recorded a major debut on Steam. It attracted more than 431,000 concurrent players at launch before reaching a peak of 833,921 concurrent players over the weekend, according to SteamDB. That makes it Steam’s biggest launch of the year so far, ahead of releases including Forza Horizon 6, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, The Blood of Dawnwalker and Ace Combat 8.
Despite its strong opening, Phantom Blade Zero has not yet matched the launch performance of Black Myth: Wukong. The Chinese-developed action game peaked at 2,415,714 concurrent Steam players at launch and is estimated to have sold 30 million copies.
In Eurogamer’s review, Emma Kent praised Phantom Blade Zero’s animations, environments and combat flow, while criticizing its narrative, consistency and some boss battles.
