Bulkhead CEO Joe Brammer says the team behind Wardogs will take the whole month of December off, following the tactical shooter’s successful early-access launch. In an interview with EDGE Magazine, he also suggested that players take a break from the game and play GTA 6 instead, saying the studio needs to “detox.”
Wardogs launched in September and drew more than 400,000 concurrent players during its first few days, according to the report. It has continued to reach over 100,000 simultaneous players a day, while sales estimates put the total at around five million copies. Bulkhead had initially planned for about 5,000 concurrent players.
Brammer said the team’s effort had earned them time away from work. He told Edge that staff had taken on responsibilities beyond their job descriptions and worn multiple hats to help the game succeed.
The game’s reception has become more mixed: its 40,000 reviews average a “Mixed” rating, with 51 percent positive. Brammer has previously said he expected player numbers to fall as the launch excitement faded, adding that the studio would continue developing the 1.0 version and anticipated renewed interest later.
Bulkhead has also leaned into unconventional messaging around the game, including a video titled “10 Reasons NOT To Buy Wardogs.” Brammer’s December remarks extend that approach, encouraging players to step away while the team takes its break.
