Food Devils, a food-themed strategy game with suggestive content, did not launch on its planned release date after its developer, Studio Daimon, was still waiting for Steam’s approval of the game build. The studio says it submitted the build on October 12 and had received no approval more than 20 days later.

In a Steam blog post, Studio Daimon explained that games must pass Valve’s review process before release. Steam tells developers that reviews typically take three to five business days, but may take up to seven if feedback needs to be addressed. The studio said it has no confirmed explanation for the delay, but suspects the review queue may be backed up by the volume of games using generative AI.

The post cited figures from Game Discovery Tool indicating that more than half of the games released on Steam in October included an AI disclosure. Valve has required developers to disclose AI use since January 2024. The article also cited SteamDB figures showing that nearly 4,000 games launched on Steam in October 2026, compared with just over 2,000 in October 2025. These figures do not establish that AI disclosures or the higher release volume caused the review delays.

Studio Daimon said it contacted Steam again the previous week to explain that the delay could affect its release date, but had not received a response. The developer hopes to launch Food Devils by the end of the week, though it said it cannot make plans or promises while the approval remains outside its control.
