Remedy Entertainment has announced a significant financial turnaround for its third quarter, with revenue tripling to €39.6 million compared to the same period last year. This represents a 226% increase, primarily fueled by preorders and the initial seven days of sales following the September 24 launch of Control: Resonant. CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the release as a defining milestone for the company.

The game's physical edition arrived after the financial review period on October 15. Since that date, Resonant has surpassed one million units sold, establishing itself as Remedy's fastest-selling title in history. The surge in performance also turned an operating loss of €16.4 million from the previous year into a profit of €0.6 million for the current quarter.

Geographically, the United States accounted for nearly half of the game's PC and console sales. On the PC platform, Chinese-speaking regions and the UK followed as the second and third largest markets, respectively. For console sales, the UK, Canada, and Brazil ranked as the top three regions outside the US. Internal data suggests that nearly 50% of Resonant players are new to the Control franchise, indicating a successful expansion of the audience.

Game sales and royalties constituted the majority of the quarter's revenue, totaling €35 million, a sharp rise from €6 million in the prior year. Additionally, development fees for the Max Payne 1 & 2 remake and final accruals for Resonant under its agreement with Annapurna contributed €4.3 million. The success of Resonant also provided a boost to the original 2019 Control title, which saw sales exceed both the comparison period and the first two quarters of the year.

While the Alan Wake franchise experienced a quieter quarter, Remedy noted that development costs for Alan Wake 2 are now fully depreciated. As the studio has transitioned to self-publishing, it now directly manages royalty expenses and platform fees. Gaudechon explained that these royalty expenses, which include Annapurna's share of Resonant revenue, are expected to decrease once initial investments are recouped.

Looking ahead, Remedy aims to continue driving sales through organic visibility and targeted marketing, supported by a substantial wishlist base of 2.4 million users. Gaudechon emphasized that the sequel has solidified Control as a true franchise and provided a strong foundation for growth as other projects proceed in the pipeline. The company stated that sales over the remainder of 2026 will ultimately define its financial year.
