Silica has left Early Access and reached version 1.0. Developed by Martin Melichárek under the supervision of Bohemia Interactive, the game combines first-person shooter action with real-time strategy, set on a planet where two factions compete to mine a valuable resource while facing hostile giant alien creatures.
Players can fight on the ground alongside friends or take the role of a commander, directing forces from above. The 1.0 update adds the Centauri Campaign, a single-player story set during the war for Baltarus. It includes a cinematic introduction, voiced mission briefings and in-game dialogue, while a 3D planetary globe tracks changes in control between missions.
Commanders also have new ways to manage their armies, including unit formations, more precise movement and attack orders, and the option to select every unit of the same type at once. Improvements to AI targeting and vehicle movement are intended to help forces perform more effectively in large battles.
The release also adds 1v1 matchmaking for players who want to face another commander and expands the Steam Workshop sandbox tools for creating and sharing scenarios. It includes further bug fixes and quality-of-life changes.
