Video game shoppers in Spain are more likely than other buyers to trust AI when researching what to purchase, according to a study by Good Rebels and Asesores. The survey also found that they are the group most likely to plan to use AI for shopping during this year’s Black Friday period.

The report, titled “Use of AI Chats or LLMs in Purchase Decisions,” found that nine in ten internet users in Spain use AI chatbots or large language models. Some 37% said they use them daily, while 30.5% use them several times a week. Only 9.9% said they had never used the technology.

Among respondents, 82.6% had used AI for a purchase, and 68% of those users had bought something based on an AI recommendation. The most common shopping use was comparing options, cited by 70.6%.

For video games specifically, 61.6% of people searching for titles said they use AI for at least three in every ten purchases. A further 33.1% said they trust it to make the final buying decision. Their queries commonly focus on price, quality and features.

Looking ahead to Black Friday, 84.4% of respondents said they intended to use AI for shopping. Of that group, 64.8% expected to use it to buy video games during the sales period. The study also found that 60.4% planned to use AI for Christmas purchases.
