Keisuke Nakashima, the producer of Final Fantasy Resonance, has publicly disclosed an internal struggle with Square Enix leadership regarding the game's development direction. While the final product stands as a classic series adventure built upon the foundation of the now-defunct mobile gacha title Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, its creation required overcoming significant executive opposition.
Nakashima explained that company superiors initially resisted the vision for a transformed and significantly improved adaptation. Instead, the executives favored a direct port of the mobile game with minimal effort. Nakashima stated that he refused to follow that route, insisting on creating an original vision for consoles that offered a complete gameplay experience.
The producer's determination to fight for a more dedicated approach ultimately resulted in a well-received title. Final Fantasy Resonance has been crowned with a Metacritic score of 86 and holds a 96% approval rating among Steam players, validating the decision to prioritize quality over a low-cost port.
