Remedy Entertainment has reported a significant turnaround following the release of Control Resonant, which the studio describes as a defining milestone after a period of fiscal underperformance. In a report released on Tuesday, the company stated that the title received excellent player reception and stands as its fastest-selling game to date. This success contributed to third-quarter revenue more than tripling compared to the same period last year, marking a 226% increase. Notably, this revenue spike accounts only for pre-orders and the first seven days of sales prior to the end of the quarter in late September, with the game officially launching on September 24.
Jean-Charles Gaudechon, Remedy's new CEO, expressed satisfaction with the performance of the studio's first self-published title of this scale built on its own Control IP. Gaudechon noted that the game was praised by both players and critics, highlighting the company's willingness to take creative risks. He also pointed to positive commentary regarding the game's scalability across various PC hardware as a testament to the in-house Northlight engine, which allowed a larger audience to enjoy the title. While critical reception was generally positive, it was not as universally glowing as some of the studio's previous output.
The commercial success of Control Resonant comes after a challenging period for Remedy. In June 2025, the multiplayer game FBC: Firebreak received tepid reviews and failed to meet sales expectations, leading to a profit warning and an operating loss of €14.9 million for 2025. This financial strain resulted in executive shake-ups, including the departure of former CEO Tero Virtala just 12 days after the warning. Gaudechon, a former Electronic Arts executive, took over as CEO on February 9, 2026, amidst concerns about the studio's future direction.
Gaudechon revealed that Control Resonant received the largest marketing investment in Remedy's history, with the United States accounting for nearly half of all sales. On PC, China and the U.K. followed as the second and third-largest markets, while the U.K. and Canada led console sales outside the U.S. Analytic data indicates that close to 50% of players were new to the Control franchise, fulfilling a key goal of expanding the studio's audience. As of October 15, Remedy announced that the game had already sold one million copies.
